from you trusted 420A guys :D

Ok my cousin's GS has been having some idle issues lately and it's driving him nuts.:toobad: He replaced almost every sensor on his TB without me knowing and it still have not stopped the erratic idle. Motor mounts have been changed recently (stock..no polyurethane crap) and we cleaned his TB and adjusted the idle and the problem is still there. About 3 weeks ago we changed the coil pack and plug wires with brand new ones from the dealership. Now yesterday when he was coming home he got a CEL and when we went to pull the codes this is what we got:

P0352 - Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
P0351 - Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction

We used an Actron OBD II Autoscanner at Advance auto parts.

Now I thought 95's were OBDI to begin with, correct me if I'm wrong and the coil pack is brand new so how would that be the problem?

Also plugs were replaced with OEM NGK BK5RE-11's gapped to 0.043".

Any help/input would be appreciated.

Now don't get me wrong because I now know that they are OBDII since I pulled the codes but I thought I read somewhere that 95's and earlier years were OBDI. Might have misread something.

The government didn't technically require cars sold in the U.S. to meet OBDII requirements until 1996. A few automakers (Mitsubishi included) decided to basically follow the OBDII protocol as early as 1995. For emissions purposes, these cars weren't fully compliant, but they can still interface with any scanner that reads OBDII codes. Most 95's also had an "OBDI" plug, which I always say is somewhat of a misnomer since OBDI wasn't a single unified code like OBDII, but rather, many different proprietary protocols.

Anyway, everything looks good, so I can't really explain what's going wrong. The plugs and plug gaps are correct. Maybe check that the wires are securely pushed into the coil and plug and that nothing is grounding out anywhere?

Ok, I just went by my cousin's house and messed with it some more. The wires leading to the plug that plugs into the coil pack were loose and when I pushed it in some it idled better but it seems like they need to be replaced because I had to hold it in place. I tried tracing the wires and it seemed like it wires into the wiring harness. Do I need to just cut off the plug and get one at the junkyard or something? I don't want to do a butcher job on this guy's car.

Edit: Codes also went away after that because I did'nt erase them.
