pull turbo to pull exhaust manny?

ok, i searched and i can't find an answer.

i have to pull my exhaust manny. 3 broken studs(still showing out of the head, thank god), and i think i've got valve stem seals leaking.

now, do i have to pull the turbo in order to pull the manny. i mean, coolant lines, oil lines all studs. or can i just pull all the studs from the manny and pull it off?

no one seemed to mention anything about it.

I pulled the manifold before pulling the turbo on mine. If it's never been removed then the only thing that hangs it up is the little "ring" gasket between the two. But even so it gives way if you wrestle with it a little.

so i don't need to pull the turbo to get the manny off?

You shouldn't need to unless yours is less cooperative than mine was. Worst case, I can imagine you needing to loosen the cooland supply & drain and oil feed banjo bolt to allow the turbo to flex around bit more on the oil drain line and down-pipe. Worst case, you can just bolt it all back together if it ends up needing more than you want to do and you'll be no worse off than you are now.

I just installed an evo 3 manifold no need to pull the turbo. Like Skelly said you may need to wrestle with it I did because of the bracket that is close on the right hand side. I broke 1 bolt off in the head and stripped 2. So dont feel bad..

i was really hoping i wouldn't have to pull it all. but from the sounds of it, im going to anyway.

turbo seals, new 2g manny, new studs, and prolly. . . pulling the head to do a head gasket and valve seals. BLEH!

oh well. . . im looking forward to having her not burn oil anymore.

actually in the process of it all. . . im thinking ill do a MBC a boost gauge, 450 injectors and a manual ecu. . . HOPEFULLY an eprom so i can get the stage one chip right away.
