I just purchased the PR fmic and I'm trying to plan out my install for this coming week. I plan on trying to auto cross the car in the future so I'd like to keep the PS cooler. Does anyone have any pics/write ups on installing the PR kit while keeping the cooler?

I've read a couple installs and they delete the cooler.
If I were to buy a couple hose barbs and some line would it be plausible to move the cooler to where the smic is located?
Thanks for any help/ideas.

I do not have the PR kit but I modified my 2g factory auto transmission cooler to work. The 2g auto cooler is a side mount. You could use a after market trans cooler kit and side mount it as well.

So yes you could move your cooler.

You could use a dual oil cooler or stand-alone oil cooler and just relocate it with new lines running into the cooler.

Personally I would probably get a dual oil cooler and relocate it under the power steering area by the wheel well.

I had done this before I deleted my PS. Once my intercooler was in place I bought an aftermarket power steering fluid cooler from car quest. ( they have many different sizes to choose from. ) Find the size you want, mount it where you would like, and make sure you use hose that is rated for power steering fluid, ( gates brand hose will have "power steering" stamped on it - other hose will not hold up, and will leak over time. ) The stock cooler looks like a big piece of bent line, but the aftermarket coolers are a basicly a loop with cooling fins, similar to an oil cooler. Good luck. - if you need part numbers pm me.

You could sit it on top of the intercooler or get an "universal" oil cooler and install it where the stock smic was

Thanks for the info. I just assumed the stock cooler was a finned design.
Once I tear into it I might take you up on the part numbers.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys. I might just lay it on top, once I get in there and get the core mocked up I'll decide which way to go.

Just lay it on top pretty simple, no need for its owner cooler setup. My car will have an oil, trans fluid and intercooler already. All I need is another cooler to route.

Haha, I hear you there. I have a feeling that's what'll happen. Who knows though, once I get in there I might feel like I need to do more work. I'm a glutton for punishment. LOL
