got my new slave and master cylinder. Installed everything nice and tight.

I bleeded the system with the procedure:
loosen slave valve
hold down clutch
tight slave valve
let go of clutch.
did this about 5 times to make sure all air bubbles or most are out.

refilled the resevoir with fresh brake fluid.

I pressed the clutch down and its still loose. I got the car started though after a week of sitting in the cold. I could not shift into gear, but can shift into reverse

Started driving backwards and see the car starting to die. something is not right.

What am I not doing right?

Did you do it like this?

Additionally, when you "bleeded" it, it is helpful to fill the master, then crack the bleeder, and let it open until the fluid comes out of the bleeder, erm bleededer. LOL Then tighten it and bleed as normal.

But the clutch adjustment is the most important step.

hmmm, probably not adjusted well enough. too loose. and cant move the end of the slave cylinder, only a little bit.

Im looking at my old master cylinder and it looks like its on the 1st thread.

ROFL on the new cylinder I put in, its at the end of the rod. I am not going to give up on my dsm.

Do you mean the clutch pedal- to soft to hard???
If so you might need to adjust more. I had my fair share of clutch problems.:boring:
at the bottom of the page... check these symptoms... and make sure the fork is sitting well with the slave... I'm not sure how n/t trannys look?

Did you bleed the master cylinder prior to bleeding the system?
Did you bleed the slave prior to bleeding the system?
did you open the bleed valve then press pedal as previously stated?

you should use 2 people to properly bleed the clutch system. use a bleeder bottle which is just a water bottle with a hole drilled into the cap. with a vacuum hose inserted with brake fluid in the bottle.Note that the hose should be submersed in the fluid.

1. bleed master cylinder
2. place vacuum hose over open bleed valve on slave cylinder.
3. press clutch fork towards slave compressing piston into slave cylinder. verify that air is leaving system with air bubbles in bleed bottle.
4. close bleed valve
5. have helper press clutch pedal ONCE to the floor. DO NOT PUMP. open bleed port momentarily.
6. helper may need to manually pull pedal up. verify fluid level. repeat till no evidence of bubbles in bleed bottle.

do not let the level get low as this will result in having bubbles in the system

im getting really frustrated after buying a brand new slave and master cylinder.

i bleeded it so many times already.

I adjusted the master cylinder, I think. I tried to match it to my old master cylinder since the configuration worked before my slave cylinder gave out.

now I look at my slave cylinder. the video that I saw, showed the slave cylinder being compressed by the part shown in the picture. But it was not so compressed in the video. Its more towards the passenger side.

Best way that has worked for me.

1. Bench bleed the master cylinder, then install
2. Leave slave bleeder valve open
3. Fill mater cylinder. Allow to gravity bleed. Fluid should flow smooth.
4. Close bleeder. Attach hose to it, submerge hose in clear bottle with brake fluid in it.
5. Have second person depress and hold clutch pedal.
6. Loosen bleeder, watch fluid in bottle, if bubbles appear, tighten and do it again.
7. Once you are bubble free, loosen the bleeder, depress slave piston completely.
8. tighten bleeder, release slave piston.

This has worked for me every time. Uses a little more fluid, takes a little longer, but makes for a properly functioning hydraulic clutch system.
