Alright, i just installed my evo 16g and turbo manifold and now my boost is all crazy. my boost wont hit til' like 4000 and when it does, it jumps back and forth from 15- 13 psi. i tried a boost leak tester but couldn't build up any pressure. i also tried to check for PRE exhaust leak but i don't really know a good way to do it. i tightened everything down, i hear no hissing or ticking from the exhaust manifold and turbo inlet. any ideas on why their is massive turbo lag and unsteady boost?

Sounds like you have a boost leak. You should see your boost gauge rising as you put air into the system.

the way i found out i had a pre turbo exhuast leak was running sea foam threw my engine, search seafoam on the boards you shud be able to find like a 10 page thread on it

do a boost leak test
if you don't have a leak test tool do a search on this site to see what you need I went to home depot and for 15 dollars i had a tool that works very good

1. Move the tester to the TB elbow first so you can focus on smaller areas at a time.
2. Open the oil cap and listen for leaks in the crankcase as well as the tail pipe.
3. Turn the mbc all the way in to avoid loosing air through the bleeder hole.
4. Make sure you are using an air compressor and not a bike pump.

1. Have a smart friend block the tailpipe with a piece of cartboard while you listen, a smart friend should mostly have enough common sense to know when to let go...mostly. :)

2. Perform a boost leak test from the tailpipe.

3. Seafoam like mentioned above.
