Problem with headgasket perhaps?

Hey all. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant. It has a 4G64 block and a DOHC head from a 2G turbo eclipse. It does not have a turbo. Anyway. The car ran for a couple of days. Ran it for about 1 hour total. After a couple of days I tried turning on the car and it didnt start. I heard a strange noise couldn't tell really what it was. May have been valves hitting pistons or could have been any number of things, not sure. Didn't sound really metallic so I was not positive. I hear puffing noises when I crank the car now. I noticed the vacuum line that goes from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator keeps popping off the intake manifold, like a burst of pressure occurs when I crank the engine.

I read many posts here but did not see one exactly with this weirdness. I thought I might have a blown headgasket or bent valves, so I did a compression test. I got 30 0 30 0. Does this sound more like a headgasket being blown, or bent valves, or could it be either or both? The car never over heated or anything. The timing belt is still on tightly, I will check in a few days once it stops raining if timing skipped. Just wanted to hear some of your thoughts. Thanks.

Sounds like some valve bendage. Typically when you blow a headgasket it will just blow one small part of it out which will give you low pressure in one cyl. Low compression in all 4 points more towards valve damage. Good luck!

actually, i had low compression in 2 cylinders, #2 and #3 when my head gasket blew.. replaced it w/a cometic w00t
