Biggest problem that i have came across with my car and i have a few ideas what it could be so hear me out ill give the best description possible....
My only mods are an intake lower ic pipe j pipe bov and 3in cat back exhaust... NO boost control yet...
The problem: It happens primarily in 2nd n 3rd gear... same time last year on a hot day i could hit 15 psi tops... i gapped my sparkplugs this year to .028-.029 and noticed that my car runs a little more lean (no carbon build up around the exhaust) and that at wot on a hot day i can hit anywhere from 17-Ive seen 20 psi at the bottom of 2nd n 3rd its not consistently that high but Ive seen a consistent 17 psi at the top of a gear... anyway i have all stock fuel n haven't rewired the stock fuel pump yes i know thats a lot of boost and I'm probably pushing the limits of the car with stock fuel... but anyway the real problem i cant figure out is at wot around 3000 rpm n 3rd gear i will be at 15-16 psi... then it will jump up 1-2 additional psi... the rpms will go up faster as soon as my psi is around 18-19 psi... n when i say the rpms go up faster its almost like I'm just cruising at a steady speed n hitting the gas....but in my case I'm already accelerating and it almost feels like its acceleration twice as fast with that extra 2 psi...as for the speedometer... it still goes up but its going up just as fast as it was when it was at 16 psi before the boost peaked at 18-19...as for when i let off the throttle the rpms drop they don't stop n then drop they just drop like 1000 or so... its feels like when its wet out n u spin the tires(fwd dsm's only) and then let off the tires grip up n the rpms drop dramatically....thats the feeling I'm getting.....
okay well thats my problem... my guess is that my clutch is slippin just a little bit so that the rpms go up but still keeps the speed going up... i don't know if thats a ridiculous guess but thats the only idea i can get out of my problem...another person told me that it could be some kinda of knocking... but i think its more of a drive train issue but I'm not too sure what so ever...i really have no idea tho my head spins just thinking of what it could be.... also someone told me if it was the clutch it would only slip for a little bit and then it would be done...its been doing this for a month or 2 now...also Ive never heard of anyone replacing the clutch with the minimal mods that I have done...
More info on my clutch.... a friend of mine with a gst hopped my gst and said that he thought my clutch grabbed further out then his did and that he thinks my clutch is wearing down... i also went ahead n checked the clutch fluid with my Father we took off the cap while the car was on and i pressed in the clutch n let it out and the fluid didn't move at all... never dealt with clutches before so I'm not quite sure what this could be and id really appreciate if anyone could give a good diagnosis on my problem...thanks in advance for reading my book^ and giving me a solution...
This is really bugging me i just thought of something b4 i went to sleep n got back on here to add it in real fast... in addition to the problem could or is it possible to spin a pully faster then the pully can spin the belts which would keep the speed the same or at the same accelation rate but would cause the rpms to go up at WOT..which i would think would cause the rpms to drop stop n drop instead of stop n drop when not at WOT...because the pully "catches traction" on the belt cus it slows down...i just read that over and its a little confusing to me but im really tired and i think thats hard to explain but my other question is... is it possilbe to have a pully spin faster then the belt if so should i try to tighten the belts by the belt tensioner?
