As the title states, I've got a pretty bad-sounding noise coming from around the timing belt area... Nothing looks to be wobbling, and honestly, the motor is still running fantastic.

Yes, I know I need to put the timing belt cover back on. Yes, I know I have a bit of an exhaust leak. Now that THOSE two are out of the way... :p

Here's a quick vid of the noise

I did a bunch of searching around, and the only feasible idea I've found is that the tensioner is too loose, and the belt is flapping against something. I figured I would throw this up here before I book time on a hoist and start tearing apart the side of the motor to find the culprit myself.

The noise DOES seem to be getting worse, but it also seems to be worse in general when it's colder out... Aaaaand it's been getting steadily colder out.

This is a 1g swapped into a 2g, I should add.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

hey what about the crank pulley timing spacer thats located right behind the crank sprocket? did you install it on backwards? Is a piece of the timing cover shroud cracked or broken that flapping into the belt? but you can check all of these things without breaking out the hoist. worst case senario is that its inside the lower bottom end of the block. might wanna drop the pan and have a look. Id drop a main cap or rod cap and check out some of them bottom end bearings just to be on the safe side, you can also do this without breakin out the cherry picker. a little (PMCS) Prementative Maintenance Checks and Services will save you alot of heartache down the road, besides it looks like you have alot of time and love in that motor, kinda like to see you get it back to 100% let me know how it goes
