Power troubles

Hey, I'm having trouble with my power.. A few weeks ago my seatbelts started to not go back an forth untill the engine is turned on. I mean the engine is running not just putting the key to the on position. Plz help! It sucks when I turn the car off and try to get out!!

Anyway, check your fuses, sounds like a blown fuse.

Door switch? Does the interior light come on if you open the door?

I checked ALL the fuses, they're all fine. Could this be alternator related?

The seat belts don't get there open/close signal from the same switch as the interior lights. There is a second switch that is part of the latch in the door. That's a pretty bizarre problem I would check for burnt fuses or wires.

Doubt it is a power issue with the battery or alternator. It takes a lot more power to crank the motor than your pesky little belt motors.

Just noticed you don't have your vehichle profile filed out. What I said about the door switches is true for 1Gs not sure about the 2Gs.

Are the seatbelts ignition controlled then? I can't remember, it's been years since I sold my 1G

Check the diagram on how they operate and work from there.

Yes they are partially controlled by the ignition position. They will close only if it is set to the on position. They should open at any time you 1. open the door 2. take the key out of the ignition with the ignition off (turbo timer keeps it on if that applies for you)

I have a 1g.. I'll check for fried wiring today, thanks for the help guys. I went on a local DSM board and they said it was the alternator, which sounds a little on the off side to me; at this point I'll try anything though.
