I'm installing a powered subwoofer and need to run an 8 gauge power lead from the battery to the subwoofer. Is there an easy spot to enter through the firewall for the wire or is there something I can tie into under the dash for this large of a wire?

I always run it under the the dash next to the glove box theres a hole there in the fire wall

How did you access it? I noticed two possible areas when looking at the firewall on the passenger side from the engine compartment. One looks like a small rubber plug as you can see in the one pic but it's not easily accessible from the engine compartment. The other is an existing wiring loom that you can see in the other pic. Is it one of those locations? Thanks.

You have to look under your dash not the engine bay and remove battery it under the battery.

I guess I'm a little confused. You mentioned it's under the battery. The battery is on the drivers side.

So the battery is on the driver you can make a cut on the boot of the steering rod. look under your driver dash you will see it just make a cut and grab the line from the engine bay

Yea as said in previous post, steering boot. I have couple going through their.

My sub wire goes through their, just put the fuse on the fire wall somewhere close to the battery. I think you can see the red wire in my pics in my profile.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't see from your pic but I know exactly what you're talking about. I'll take a look tomorrow morning. I really appreciate the help from both you guys!

I run mine through the former for the engine wiring harness so it's closer to the battery and you don't have to look at the wire running across the bay.

I went ahead and ran mine through the steering boot as recommended by a couple of other posters. Took a little work to fish it up the firewall behind the clutch master cylinder but worked out really well. I'm going to install a 1/8" heat resistant black wiring loom on it. Won't even be noticeable.

Make sure you run the cable on the opposite side of the car from your RCA cables, as the electrical current through the positive(monster) cable can cause some electromagnetic interference with the signal in your RCA cables if they are too close together. A good rule of thumb is to run them on opposite sides of the car.

Subwoofer sits on the floor, behind the drivers seat so what I did was run the power wire and the RCA cables under the center console. They are both in separate plastic wire looms and one is on the passenger side and one is on the drivers side.

when I got mine it had a hole drilled out on the top left of the firewall for 4 gauge wire, you can access it from under the dash at an angle or from under the hood and behind the strut mount at an angle I believe, ive been trying to make it bigger for my 0 gauge though, I'm going to be running 6 12"s, 2 6x9s, and 2 6 1/2"s + tweets as soon as I get done making the box and figuring out how to make the second alternator bracket.

(also non-turbo) for now ;)

dear lord. what are you trying to do, create small tremors to compete with california?
i mean i used to do audio competitions, but the most i ever ran were 3, 10" solobarics on 3k watts, and THAT was highly annoying in an every day standpoint. but whatever floats your boat.
also, you will want to run 00 or two 0 gauge power wires, one from each alt, directly to 1 large or two moderate power cells to run the amps youll be using for those subs...

on another point, yes running the amp power wire and rca's on separate sides of the car is best, although MECP practice is at least 18" apart, and if they must intersect, cross them at a 90* angle. although you will hardly ever get signal crossover as long as all your grounds are good, and you will hardly ever see an install where they are run separately, unless you DIY and want to.

LOL that's the best one ive heard so far and I'm only 18 so I'm doing my best to provide help but thank you for letting me know about the dual 0 gauge, I will have to get more. LOL
