So I'm looking to powdercoat my upper intercooler pipe, 1G BOV, and intake pipe. I'm debating on what color to do. Right now the UICP is red, and the BOV is stock green/corrosion, and the intake pipe is raw aluminum.

I'm trying to stick with a low profile, not flashy look. My valve cover is black chrome, and I like it, but don't think it would look right if everything under the hood was done that way.

I'm leaning towards a black wrinkle or simple gloss black. As much as I like flashy colors, it's not the direction I'm going on this car.

Here's a picture of what it looks like now, MINUS the GReddy BOV, it's been replaced with a 1G BOV.

Anyone have any suggestions?

What about Flat black? Kinda a lower profile and it will compliment the valve cover. I've seen the wrinkle on valve covers and it looked good so I'm sure it would look ok on piping.

I would love to use a splash of color as well. Maybe the top of the BOV, but I honestly have no idea what color to go with in fear that it will look tacky.

Gunmetal would look good. Do you have a "theme" color for the car?

I never really stuck with a theme. It started out as black/red but that's way overplayed. I see a lot of really nice flashy bays, but really don't want to go with some over the top bright colors all over the place. And chrome is not really my style either. I've thought about gunmetal, just not sure how well it would flow with everything else under the hood.

I'm not completely opposed to re-powdercoating the valve cover a diff color.

Eh, I dunno if teal would really mesh with black. I wanted to go with some type of green, but don't think I can pull it off without it being terribly tacky.

I have always been a fan of wrinkle black. I would do the intercooler piping and intake in wrinkle black, and have the bov coated to match the valve cover.

This is probably the route I will end up going. I'm worried ill hate the all black look, but I can always re-coat later. I like the idea of matching the bov with the valve cover.

what about a wrinkle red or the same color as the bov top or even the valve cover color

I think wrinkle black or a satin would really set it off. As for small parts like the bov, wastegate, etc. you could probably get away with a jade green.

get a can of header paint from autozone and go to town. spend your money on performance. your car already looks clean as hell, flat black piping will look fine in there. i just painted my intake pipe and fp race mani, going to do piping next

I dropped all the parts off, I'm doing wrinkle black on everything but the BOV. I'm going with a gunmetal grey metallic on the 1G BOV. It should turn out nice, I'll post pictures when I get everything back and put together.

Thanks for all the input guys.

You could try a flat dark color with a flashy color combo. Like I'm going to be doing flat black with hks purple.

So I got my parts back today. I'm very happy with the results. Probably won't get them bolted to the car for another week or so.

The BOV is a gunmetal flake that the powdercoater had in stock and kinda talked me into. It was going to cost WAYY too much to do black chrome, and I really didn't want to do the BOV wrinkle black. So I took a chance on this, and I think it turned out really well.

$120 for all 3 pipes, BOV, and my strut bar. Local guy, had them done in two days. I'm really happy with how they turned out and can't wait to get them back on the car.

That looks awesome. I would've gone with the same exact color combo.

Especially the gunmetal with the slight flake to it. That looks so legit.

Not bad. Post pics after the install!
