positive connection rewire, very simple question

Can you run a wire straight from the positive terminal on the alternator to the positive terminal on the battery? I'm not sure if it needs to be run through some voltage regulator or if that's intigrated (sp?) into the alt. I just want a better charging system connection, same reason people run extra ground connections. Please avoid the urge to turn this into a debate of "why" or "is it nessesary", just answer the question.

Yes, it is possible. The only thing between the positive terminal and the battery is your Alternator fuse in the fuse box. That being said, I would not recommend running it without the fuse at all.

You can get better voltage by running 4-gauge wire directly from the positive terminal on the alternator up to the fuse box, then to the battery. The fuse will not be the cause of low charging.
