What is safcII. i plan on getting pocketlogger later today and a palm device to tune with, but i see that people use SafcII as well> could anyone explain to my dumb self what it is. and which is better to use? :beatentodeath:

There isn't really any tuning you can do with a pocketlogger, this is just a tool used to monitor your engine through your ECU. It can also clear CELs.

An SAFC is used to tune, usually in conjunction with a logger. It can adjust fuel trims.

Specifically, an afc intercepts the airflow signal coming from the MAS before it gets to the ECU. It changes the amount of airflow the ECU sees, either positively or negatively, and can, in a sideways kind of way, adjust the amount of fuel injected into the cylinders. It does not directly change the fuel trims.

A logger allows you to view, in relatively real time, some of the parameters the ECU sees when it is monitoring engine function, such as timing, rpms, airflow, knock (on 1g's), etc. Using a logger is essentially mandatory when an afc is installed and in use. And using a logger is a good idea in general if you are increasing boost pressure above stock levels, as it gives you a window into the ECU and what the engine is actually doing.

Just tune for under 7 counts of knock and around .87 o2 volts and it will get you in the ballpark, using AFC with logger. Or get yourself a WB02 and you can get it right on the money. What i thought was a good tune on my logger and afc, ended up being 10.0's when i got the AEM wb in so....
