Please! New and need help concerning rear AWD knuckle/axle...

I have what I believe is a simple question, but I am very limited in my knowledge of cars. My boyfriend knows cars, I know computers .
I own a 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. The rear driver side wheel bearing went bad. He could not get it pressed out, so he took it to a machine shop and they couldn't either AND ended up breaking a part. After doing some research on my limited knowledge and with his help, I found the correct hub/bearing (from the looks of it anyway, my car is 3 hours away awaiting the rest of the parts I need) from the mitsubishi site (the part we ordered was for a 97 eclipse, which I understand is the same as my car).

Sorry if I am making this overly complicated. I also ordered an axle from there for the 97 eclipse as well and I am waiting for that to get here and hoping it is right as well.

The knuckle I also ordered but I got an email yesterday saying my order was cancelled because they no longer have the part. So I need a knuckle still and I do not know which cars/years are interchangeable. For instance, I found a knuckle on the Chrysler web site for 95 talons, but they all say 2wd. Are the Awd and 2wd the same knuckle on the rear for my car? By 2wd I assume they mean Fwd?

Then I searched for later years...the 96 talon looks like the same parts, but the 97 talon knuckles say either 2wd or doesn't specify. Example:

I am very confused, and with my lack of understanding, I don't want to order the wrong part. Should I wait out the Mitsubishi site and keep checking for the part they cancelled? Or perhaps search for another year eclipse part that will also work on my car?

Also if this helps, the part number for the knuckle that was cancelled on the Mitsubishi page was 23222964. Again, I am not even sure if that was correct. Or if the axle I ordered is....#23294221.

EDIT: Now my axle order has been cancelled and they want almost twice as much on Chrysler if this is the same thing...

Thanks for the response. That link takes me to the Mitsubishi catalog though...

I guess what I need to know is which years of talon and eclipse's are interchangeable in regard to ordering the rear knuckle and axle of my 95 eagle talon.

Both of those parts I ordered have been cancelled from that website. I ordered both of them for a 97 eclipse because it was my understanding that car/year was the same as mine...? If I find, say, a 95 eclipse knuckle on that same site, would it work on my talon? Likewise for an axle...

Thanks! That happens to be the ONE part that I do have though...and it took me forever to figure out the right one. The first one that Shuck's gave me was wrong, so ended up ordering from Mitsubishi.

Hopefully that will help someone in the future though, and save them some time that I spent looking for the right one .

So...if I order parts for any 95-98 eclipse OR 95-98 talon...will those parts match my 95 talon?

I wouldn't be concerned with the year, just if it's meant for an awd. The early knuckles just have a slightly different profile to them but they work and the geometry is the same.

Why are you replacing the knuckle though? Did you break it some how?

I've replaced 3 of my 4 wheel bearings.

Did they actually break the knuckle or are you just ordering a new once since the parts are still stuck together? If they didn't break the knuckle, you should be able to cut the hub/bearing/axle mess out with a torch.

An aftermarket from your local auto parts store for $50-80 will do fine. Just buy a new on, not a refurbished one.

You may also want to give one of the vendors on this site a call. They can get you the knuckle cheaper than the dealer will.

280 bucks for an axle through the dsmgraveyard..They are better axles then stock aswell.. If this happens in the future the dsmgraveyard axle has a better spine set up so the splines won't twist.. That will let you seperate the axle from the hub...

The machine shop we took it to to remove the bearing...(hope I have that right) broke the knuckle, yes. =/

As far as the knuckle, the listings are different then they were earlieron Mits page...will this work?
