Please read carefully:

i have just done a motor swap on my 98 gst... i dropped in a 94 laser 7bolt motor... hooked everything back up.... as you know there is several ecu plugs that hook up to the motor.... well there is one specific plug, its like the only plug that doesn't look like a triangle its kinda flat and wide with 7 'prongs' in a row. well that plug seems to get VERY HOT after like 2 cranks. the car is also not getting any spark. so i went on VFAQ.com and did the cam sensor harness rewiring for the (1g cam sensor wired with the 2g ecu) with the 2g sensor plug and the crank sensor wires...still no spark... ANY FRIGGIN IDEAS??????

Is it this plug?

It sounds to me like you do not have the ignitor hooked up whcih is why it's getting burning hot and you have no spark.

Good job on labeling all the connectors when you took them off btw... :nono:

Could be the plug for your power transistor pack which, if defective, would also not give you spark. The transistor pack is located right next to the coil pack. That's the picture that dsmjim has I think (I've just never seen it that way)

thanks for the possibility... ill check it out asap... and btw im not the one who pulled my motor, i had some buddies do it and im assuming they thought i was dropping in another 2g motor

does anybody think it would be wise to get the harness and ecu out of the car i took the motor from instead of using my 2g harness and ecu?

i did the same thing, 1g 7bolt swap into my 2g... but did none ecu harness modifications.
i turned on my car and everything was ok for about 200miles and now i have to rebuilt my engine again. is it posible that because i did nothing for my ecu wiring, i blowed my enigine....?

I'd say you need your engine rebuilt due to other reasons. I put a 6 bolt into mine and it has made a cross country trip three times without any issues. Maybe you should find out why your engine failed. Poor original build or something?

so would you guys recommend me pulling off all of my ecu plugs and starting over? maybe i mixed up a plug or 2 because i know nthat that there are a few plugs that can plug into the same spots... maybe the reason for no spark? could a few plugs in the wrong spots make that plug pictured above get hot? also, did you have any plugs not used? because i have 2 plugs just hanging up by the intake manifold by the timing belt

Those two plugs by your timing belt would be for your cam and crank sensors. One is probably a black, slightly round plug and one is probably gray rectangular-ish. Having neither input from either of these sensors would definitely not give you any spark. See if you can get a used 1g cas and wire it into your 2g. You'll be good to go.

Check your battery voltage while cranking.

If it drops too low you will have no spark and a hot pwr transistor...

You do need a CAS signal and a 1g cas... If you have those and it is installed right you probably have a low battery or other problem.

i found the crank sensor plug in that area but the cam sensor plug was on the other side near the intake manifold piping and i put the 1g cam sensor in and did the rewiring trick from vfaq.com where u take 2 of the wires from the crank sensor and 1 wire from the cam sensor and wire it into a single plug then plug that into the cam sensor, maybe the cam sensor is bad and i should try another?

Does the 94 still have the crank angle sensor and are you using it? If so maybe you swapped your AC and crank plugs since they both look the same. Perhaps coilpacks and ac as well. They are all triangle plugs. The 7 prong plug you are talking about is your ignition module. That must be connected.

i have placed an 89 turbo cam sensor on the head... should i be using the 93-94 cam sensor?

you said u dropped a 1st get 7 bolt into ur 2g car with absolutely no mods? how did you hook up the crank sensor...the plug doesn't reach by a long shot...let me know every little thing u did even the basic shit every one knows to hook up that motor with the 2g harness....please
