If anyone has any clear, plain and simple advice about how I should go about modifying my engine it would be greatly appreciated. I know there is so much information on this site but being new to the import world and actually pretty new to the whole car modification world I need good direction. What I have now is a 99 Eclipse GS 10th Anniversary Edition. If what I have heard and read is true it has a Chrysler engine in it. 420A?? I would like to have a turbo, and my question to all of you is how I would go about doing this in a reasonable matter. Again, I know this site has plenty of turbo information on it but nothing is standing out to me ..... I am also sorry if this information has already been stated I just can't find it and I have read through posts for hours. Thanks for your time and help. Also, if you have any other modification advice for a bone stock GS (except for the alpine head unit) I would love to hear it. This can be stereo advice, body kit, engine, interior, paint, anything.

Thanks everyone

turbo is without a doubt the best mod you can do to your eclipse but you shouldnt do it if you have no idea about the subject. what is your definition of reasonable? im gonna say that you probably mean price. well hrc is a very reputable company and currently has the fastest 2gnt. it has their turbo setup with a 100 or 150 shot and runs 10's. granted, you wont come close to running 10's, you will definately be faster than you are now. if you dont want to spend the money for an hrc kit, you can get a star kit or do what im doing and go the custom route. warning, do not go the custom route unless you know exactly what is needed and how you are going to do it. with a manufactured kit, you might be able to get something back if a part of their kit is defective. when you do a custom setup, any ####up is all on you:dsm:

Thanks to 97eclipseRS I have noticed that my thread has a little confusion within it. Yes, I did mean reasonable in price, I would like to aim for about 3 grand for parts and installation if at all possible. Also, I am not sure if this is what he meant but I do not plan to do this work myself. After I did the proper research I was going to find someone reputable to do the install also. But thank you 97eclipseRS for your help, all information is appreciated.

Thanks, Josh

well since you have a 3 grand spending limit and intend to take it to a shop for the install, the only way in hell you will get it done is to go the custom route. before you do though, you need to research as much as possible about this topic. go over to www.2gnt.com tomorrow when it is working normal and search through the turbo section. there is a lot of great information there and you will find much better answers to your questions there rather than here:dsm:

yeah that site is good help but what else do you need to know ? you wanted the best bang for your buck under 3000 dollars and thats a turbo kit get the star or hrc kit and maybe look for deals on bottom end parts but i think your 3000 will get you through a turbo kit installed :thumb:
