my 96 gst started pinging last nite after my boost gauge hose came off, didnt know it at the time but found the problem this morning when i looked at the car, the pinging sounds like it might be the injectors or intake valves, i cant feel the tick on the valve cover or exhaust mani but on the intake mani i can feel it, the tick/ping is very loud an not the normal ticks an sh*t these dsms have, has anyone ever had a problem like this before?? cause im at a complete loss, any feedback would be very much appreciated.

i just took off the plug wires an took out the plugs, an they look like sh*t, i have a few pix to show you and hopefully someone can help me, according to the back of the manual the car is running lean or the timings off, n i dont kno how to chang either of those on a dsm, im sorta new still to this whole thing yet i kno alot about the engines, helped rebuild my bros 91 gst motor so here is a link to the page where u can find the pix http://www.dvcsite.com/car problems.htm thanks, ne info on fixing this problem will be very helpful,

Took this from my manual:
- air leak into manifold vacuum
- excessive combustion chamber deposits
- EGR valve not functioning properly

chances are it is an air leak.

i hav gotten the ticking to go away a little bit but its still there an pretty liud, i can hear it from about say 50-60 ft away an still at a desecnt level, i am out of i deas so im testing the intake an checking all the hoses for the ic, does anyone have any other ideas?? and could the egr be plugged up or a vacumline from it be cut so its causeing the ticking? input would be helpful thanks
