Hey guys, quick request here. I need a photo of the factory 2Gb stereo mounting cage. My search has yielded nothing unfortunately =/

Reason I ask is a previous owner of my car had installed an aftermarket stereo with one of the cheap Scosche mounting kits that use the aluminum slide in cage (affixed by bending tabs in the cage to latch onto the plastic bracket), which I feel is garbage and causes the CD player to skip when hitting a bump, and I would like to obain and modify a factory cage so that I can hard mount my new stereo system properly and install a cubby hole below it (instead of the blank plastic plate that the aftermarket install kit has).

Thanks!

TW

Edit to add: I seem to recall my 1Ga was able to fit 6-1/2" speakers in the rear as well as the front doors, is this still true for the 2Gb?

I don't have any pics but I've used this bracket before. Its not 100% but overall not bad.

I'd really rather use the factory cage to be honest. However thank you for posting this option :) This is the style I am looking for, so if all else fails I can find something similar.

The factory actually uses 2 brackets and not a cage. You can see them in this picture.

You can also see the factory DIN pocket that you can mount below a single DIN aftermarket head unit (right side, middle pic, label 85402).

Wow, there's a familiar face :p Good to see you still around Snow (not sure if you remember me, but I used to run under the s/n Xerces_Belial IIRC, lost info for my old account so not certain) . Thanks for the pic man, definitely what I need :) Now I know it will definitely work for my purposes. For some reason I was thinking cage though, probably due to the fact that the aftermarket deal that is in there now is is more of a cage with a blank plate attached at the bottom to cover the void left by removing the double din.

Looks like I have some DSM Classifieds scrounging to do for a set of these ;)

If you want to buy from a vendor, I'd contact Stangmurdera on here. He parts out dsms so he probably has it.

Lol, I actually just spoke to him about 10 minutes ago :D He does have the stuff I need in stock, and I will be sending him a PM once I hear back from another member that I pm'd prior to calling him.

As far as speaker size goes, every thread I've read pretty much says it varies from car to car.

I think most GSTs come with 6.5s in the front and 6x9s in the rear.

For the mounting brackets, you can probably pick them up from a junkyard, part out on the classifieds, or eBay.
