Don't want to make this a vendor review, but i need to express my deepest sympathy for Pete, and what UPS, and what I put him through today. I asked Pete, from Magnus, a week and a half ago, if he could help me out on getting me a Magnus Race intake manifold. So, he pm's me back, next day, to give him a call, and he will work something out. He gave me an awesome deal when we talked and was really really nice to talk to.
I pay the money and wait a week to get it in the mail. And this is where it gets shitty. I am in school and my mom sends me a text, saying i didnt take the package. I was in my second to last class, i almost had a heart attack. I am one of those people who check 5 times before the package comes and get all excited to take it out and take pictures and shit.
Anyway, i text her back asking why the F not, and she says there was a fee that i had to pay. So, i get home, and call up the local UPS service station, and she says i have never encountered this problem before, and gave me the number to call international UPS. I am a little heated by now, and call the lady at international, and she basically says that there is a fee of brokerages and shipping. And when she says there is another shipping charge, i about killed myself. I couldn't understand why Pete would tell me one thing, and do another. I was asking so many rhetorical questions to the lady at IUPS that she was stumbling for words.
So, i call Pete, the first of several to come, and ask why is this happening, what should i do, and what i need to do. Pete told me, that i should call the local UPS and say the shipping charge was paid, and all i have to pay is the brokerage fees. So, i get ready for work and head over to the UPS in Reading, PA, and wait for the package to get there, and then the fun begins.
As soon as the driver gets there, they immediately saying that i have to pay the 51 bucks, thats how it works, there is no way around it, and Pete was wrong and shipped it incorrectly. I call Pete up, and he gets in touch with UPS International, and basically gets teh run around from what he told me. But, he said that I should be able to pay just the customs fees now.Meantime, i am talking to the supervisor of the local UPS, and they are denying any misrepresentation of the fees needing to be paid, that they wont be able to do anything for me until they get a fax. I said that, Pete, has notified me that UPS has messed up and it should update in their system. Finally, i call him back, and tell him that they arent doing anything for me and he is getting in touch with UPS Canada. This is about an hour and 15 minutes in by the way.
The UPS in Canada even calls the local UPS after Pete gives them the number to call and tells them to release the package. The lady on the phone was ADMITTING FAULT and asked them to release the package and the people at the terminal would not do so. I was on the phone with Pete at this time, and told him they would not release the package. He said listen, just pay the fee and i will reimburse you. I said, ok, i will and then another roadblock comes up. They only accept check or cashiers check. I said to the lady, "you have to be fu%%king kidding me." "I just want to FU$$ing pay, and get the F%%% out of here." I wasnt yelling, to some people they might think i am yelling, but i just have a voice that carries. I bet, that those words just resonated in the room for a minute or so.
I had they service lady and the manager so aggravated at this point, because they weren't helping the situation at all, and making it harder on themselves.
Finally, Pete I believe calls me back and says he is paying the charges through UPS main in Kentucky and i should be able to leave. It was another 10 minutes or so of waiting for the asses to get there shit together and get the letter sent, and have them close the tag. I was so upset and so mad, i even opened the package just to make sure it was PERFECT. And what top things off, they people at the local UPS was not willing to admit THEY were wrong for ASSUMING Pete shipped it incorrectly, they did not say SORRY for what happened, and they were not willing to HELP ME or themselves but just taking the hit and letting it go.
I just want to say thanks to Magnus, Marco(who i spoke to briefly about how Pete was flipping out), and especially Pete, who did an EXCELLENT job and keeping his cool with me and at the end of the day, coming through when it seemed like it was impossible.
So, what have i learned from all this. UPS is shit. They have no customer support at ALL. NONE what so ever. I will never use UPS EVER again. Pete from Magnus is the MAN!
So, guys, should i email UPS a nasty letter complaining about losing time from work or just leave it alone. Or call a news station to report this? Because, i feel what happened today was unnecessary, and the steps to get this to go through, were worse than getting kicked in the nuts. I wish today didnt happen. But, at the end of the day, i have my new Magnus Race manifold thanks to Pete.
