So had the talon about a month and a half. I noticed when I stay in boost for awhile or high rpm's and oil pressure raises, then come to a stop I will get a good deal of smoke that comes from the car. I can't pin point if its flowing out the exhaust or if its coming from the bay and going under then outside the car. The car doesnt puff smoke when reved at idle or normal driving. The t-28 on the car looks beat up and I believe it to be the culprit. I have a 50 trim waiting in my room and I think I will be swapping them shortly. Would valve seals cause this type of behavior or is this a for sure turbo seals going situation.

edit: the smoke does not happen every time, it will happen a couple times one day then be fine the next 3 weeks.

Two other possibilities if it isn't your turbo.

1. Your dipstick is popping up, due to too much crankcase pressure.

2. If you have a vaccum line hooked up from the breather nipple on your valve cover to your intake. I have seen a few DSMs, including mine that will smoke when the line is connected. If you take it off and put a breather nipple on the valve cover and block the nipple on the intake, it stops.

I am dealing with smoking issues now.. * OIL that is... Fix them before it ruins the turbo...
So far what I have done is change out my old stocker turbo with another one(evo3 16g)... Didnt fix the problem, still smoked, then I ported out my oil filter relief valve which lowered my oil pressure to a more acceptable amount considering I had no balance shafts on this 6bolt rebuilt and my oil pressure was sky high and I suspected it to be pushing past the seals..
Then I checked the exhaust manifold ports... No oil no there, and no oil in my catch can therefore means I broke it in correctly, and theorettically my rings and valve steams arent leaking... Yet it still wants to smoke oil...The turbo oil feed line is good, still at the head and set up like stock, therefore one last thing to check , the turbo return line possibly being clogged causing oil to back up and get burned out the turbo... Hopefully thats my cars problem.

Maybe my quest in solving my cars problems just there will give you some ideas too but I dont fully know your situation..
But if your turbo has a ton of shaft play, especially in and out play then yea the seals done for...

whiteish color smoke is usally the color of water or collant burning. im betting to say u got a bad headgasket. i would do a copression test to check for sure. cause if it was oil it would be blue. so i would do a compresson test and go from there. post back and let us know what u find

My car used to smoke (white colored) out the exhaust once I hit full boost and I had a blown turbo. You should check if there's shaft play on the turbo. But I'm thinking it's not a blown turbo since it doesn't happen every day.

Just a thought, if you got white smoke, and car runs fine besides the embarassing little smoke, the head gasket could still hold compression, but be leaking coolant, compression test may not reveal your concern. like I said just a outside opinion looking in, hope it helps
