hey guys, i got a 96 eclipse gst and im tryin to replace the passenger side axle but it wont come off the hub. i tried pounding it out with a mallet but no luck, i've tried soaking it with wb40 in hopes that it would loosen up but no luck, i've rented an axle puller but still no luck. any suggestions on removing the axle or is there something else that i should be doing? HELP!

I just got mine done(by a mechanic, did not have time) My brother had a stuck axle like that and heating it and lots of hammering got it out finally. But i know on these eclipses they usually do get seized in the hub from what i have been reading. It took my bro a good while to get it out but it did come out in the end!

PB blaster.

You might have to soak it for a day or 2. Or try an air compressor chisel/hammer thingy (gawd that sounded intelligent).

When all else fails rent the larger puller (exact one) in post #10 here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235884
Also you can then just unbolt the 2 lower arms at the chassis end and remove the damper fork bolt and the entire assembly will swing out far enough to pull the axels out of the tranny and/or hub. You don't need to undo any ball joints either.
