Well, I did alright in the test and tune. I could have done better as always but hey, I cannot complain at all. I only made it to the second round but thats fine.. Ill explain as I go. Previous best before coming to Pamona was 14.066 @ 98.5 MPH
Qualifying
In the Qualifying run, I did ok. I got a decent launch but spun through 1st and 2nd gears, leading to a 2.1 60 foot. I pulled a 14.1 ET and a 104 MPH. I figured this would set me somewhere decent on my times, so I decided to put 13.9 as my dial in time. I figured, if I could get a good launch, which for me is a 1.9 then that would pull the .2 out of the 14.1 I ran and pretty much hit it right on the head. I also checked my log and noticed that I was running a tad rich up top so I decided to add some timing there instead of pulling out fuel. On top of that, I decided to try something I had not done before. I dropped the air pressure in the tires from the 40'ish I was running down to 30 lbs.
Round 1
My next run was my first run in a bracket race. I was a little nervous but the plethora of runs I had in the past kinda got me trained well in dealing with some of the things my car does. I know how to react to them now so it doesnt effect me as much. In the second run, I raced a civic hatch I believe, I dont recall and dont have the video yet but will post those when I get them sent to me. My launch was good, pulled a 1.9 and spun through 1st gear but when I nailed second, the car pulled like a SoB. I rode out second to about 7k, got third gear qith a quickness and rode that out as well with no knock showing, hit 4th and the car just bounced back with the boost. I passed the line and knew I had a good run. I was not aware at how good of a run it was until I got my time slip.
Dial: 13.90
R/T: .222
60f: 1.938
330: 5.576
1/8: 8.531
MPH: 85.00
1k: 11.022
1/4: 13.146
MPH: 106.66
My best to date, something I had been trying for, for over a year now. The only thing that kept me alive was that my opponent had red lit and even though I broke out, I got passed on to the next round.
Round 2
On this round, I decided to drop my Dial in to 12.9. I figured, if I dont spin I can get it this time. I decided to add a tad more timing up top since I was still a little rich. I also decided to remove another 5lbs of air from all 4 for more traction. On top of that, I was not going to go through the water box like I did last time. I did so because one of the lane guys would not move so I could go around it. I pegged my Stutter at 5.5k and BAM, launched the hardest I have in a VERY long time. Stuck 2nd gear at 6k because if I dont, I wont hit 2nd, rode that out to a tad over 7k and went to shift into 3rd. Well... I was nervous because of who I was running against, a SRT4 that was cutting 1.6 60' times and who was dialed in just .2 quicker then me. As I was shifting into 3rd, my sweaty hands ( thanks to 85+ degree SoCal Octobers ) I punched my stereo instead of hitting 3rd. I didnt grip the shifter hard enough, I managed to recover the failed attempt to hit 3rd and still managed to pull out a 13.3 at 105.97 with my 1.8 60'.
I had lost but to a much more skilled driver. Had I not missed 3rd, I might have won because he took me on the launch but at the top of 2nd I was gaining ground on him like it was nothing and we were not even at the 1/8th yet. I could have had him and my 12's finally but I missed it but thats fine. I have improved a lot in the last two days, not only on my understand of tuning but my driving as well.
Videos will be posted as soon as I get them.
