Painting wheels..anyone else gone graphite?

Hey I am fixing to paint my 3g rims on my 2g gst to graphite and was wanting to know if anyone else has graphite colored rims and could post pix of them. Or if anyone has painted their rims graphite color. Post pix I'd like to see how they turned out. Will post pix of mine when I'm finished. 2g 1g turbo n\t doesn't matter just wanna see your rums!

i just painted mine metallic gun metal grey, and for a spray can job it didn't come out all that bad, on a silver car i like it.

Thats spray paint? Not bad looking. Where did you get gun metal spray at? I have some old stockers i could test it on.

This is a picture of mine, I don't have any better ones though. This was rattle canned and turned out pretty well. I really feel like it's all about prep. If you do all you can to make it turn out well then it'll come out well.

Well right now I'm up at school in East Lansing with my car, so probably not recently Richmond is just a bit north of Macomb, isn't it?

Yeah. About 20 mins north of Chesterfield. Havent seen much DSM's this north of Metro area, looking for some people who also had some to do some cruises with. Lol. Tired of the usual "Vtec" kids around here. haha.

advance auto, i just happened to be there and it was one of the many few mildly attractive colors but i thought'd look nice.

yep rattle can spray paint . Bought it at advance. Its actually graphite not gunmetal. Its the wheel paint they sell. I used duplicolor clear on them instead of the wheel clear. sanded the wheels then clean them with naptha pain thinner. then spray them three times then cleared them. I did the centers too. I'm just about done with the other front wheel and will post pix of both finished products. Thanks! they did turn out pretty good. I'm happy with the results. Much better than the stock look.

Haha ain't that the truth. I don't know many people at all with DSM's. They really are rare around here

Yeah, they really do look great! I used something similar from advanced I believe. Left a funny finish though. Sound like you're doing everything by the book though so I'm not surprised they turned out so well. Good luck with the other ones!

okay pix of the finished products coming in a few minutes just finished the second rim which I didn't do as well as the first on. Had a few runs this time from putting the first coat on to heavy. got it placed next to the heater at the moment then its going on taking a pic and posting. Which I might add heat is a key factor when painting. The hotter the temperature and lower the humidity the faster the paint dries and the better it will stick. Never paint when its really cold unless you have a way of heating what your painting.

They look dang good! I'm thinking I may need to redo mine this summer with a similar rattle can as yours and use a regular clear. Is the finish nice and smooth?

Looks good! IMO those wheels aren't my favorite, but it still looks real good!

Thanks! The finish is smoother than a baby a$$ I put the clear coat on with the base coat. After I did three base layers (10 min or so btwn coats.) I spray on the clear. Some ppl I think do the base and let it dry and resand for the clear. I just did the clear with the base.

Yours look pretty good too man. I like the red lip on them. I might try that on my wheels to. Would match my red symbols.
