Painting Shock Springs?

I searched around for a while and couldn't find anything on this...so i'm replacing my struts within the next week so i'll have my springs off. Would it do any harm to paint them with just some engine paint? If so would it chip off when compressed? Has anyone does this and have pics?

i think they would have to be powder coated if you want the finish to last

I would imagine the paint would just flake off under the constant movement.

YUP POWDERCOAT. it will look way better than if u would paint them with a can. and u can get almost any color

I also vote powdercoat. Here's an example of someone who powdercoated their springs.

It's funny they went from Yellow to black. I wonder if the OP is going to go from black to another color.
