Well the previous owner of my buddy's car had painted the rims dull black, and they looked like crap. So, we did some work and repainted them with a Duplicolor Auto Interior spray Charcoal color:

Not bad, eh? If you care to follow the process we used, step by step instructions to follow:

1) Clean old rims thoroughly. If painted, you may want to strip the old paint with sandpaper or otherwise. We did not strip the old paint for this paint job.

2) Allow rims to fully dry.

3) Masking tape around any parts of the rim you do not want to paint. Using more, shorter pieces of tape will naturally yield a better circle than using a few long pieces ;)

4) Use masking tape and newspaper to cover tires completely. Tuck newspaper under tires to fully avoid overspray.

5) Before painting wheels be sure you are painting on top of a surface that can be painted (i.e. not your girlfriend's newly resurfaced driveway).

6) Go at it any primer of your choice (we used a very light gray primer available for 99 cents a can at Walmart).

7) After a full coat of primer, allow to dry for 20-30 mins. or until completely dry to the touch.

8) Add the first coat of Duplicolor Auto Spray in the color of choice. You will need 4-5 cans to do all four wheels, with about 2 coats of paint per wheel. Use more coats if you are intent on having a long lasting, professional job. Be sure to allow wheels to fully dry between coats, usually 30 mins.

9) When the last Duplicolor coat is fully dried, use a Rustoleum sealer to clearcoat the wheels. This will provide protection from the elements and seal the paint job. We used 2 coats of Rustoleum clear sealer (outdoor).

10) After everything is fully dry, slap those badboys back on the car and hit the beach.
