I know people on here have painted them. I painted mine a couple of weeks ago black using all the methods: clean, sand, paint, clear, dry. Now they are all scuff and chipped and look like crap. Is this normal or is there something I did wrong,

I used gloss black and sprayed 3-4 coats on it in 20 min. intervals, then sprayed 2-3 coats of clear on it after awhile.

door sills are PLASTIC, not VINYL. I thought about getting some of those MOMO door sills that they have on ebay, but I don't think it would cover the whole thing, the scuffed paint would still show in some areas.

Are you sure that you used compatable clear coat? Was it the same brand paint and clear?
Soetimes if you mix one brand of paint with another brand of clear you will get a haisy or dull finish.

Also what did you use to clean it? Did you use a degreaser? Some paint does not adhear to surfaces that have degreaser on them.

Hope you can fix it

I cleaned them with alchol, but I half-assed it. I'm going to sand them down and add some primer and use the same brand paint and clear. Think I'll get some krylon fusion this time cause I'm going to paint the center console and some other things.

Also, if any of you haven't thought about doing this, I painted the plastic protector thats underneath the windshield wipers and it looks twice as good and it's held up fine.

Use the fusion. Dont apply a primer on the plastic unless it is a
adhesion (sp?) permotor (sp?) . Just spray the fusion right on the plastic. Just clean and spray. Works great for me. I used a pre-cleaner that is used by all body shops to wipe down cars before they are painted.
