Lately I have been having a problem with the charging system on my car. Just for some background it is a 95 Talon Tsi with a 1G swap in it. I was having a problem with the belt squealing in the morning when I put on a lot of electrical components (heater, defroster, etc). Finally the belt broke and I saw that it was shreaded. I installed a new belt and noticed when the belt squealed the belt slow down on the alternator. I checked the charging system and found it to be putting out 15.7 volts. It seemed like it over worked itself to death. So I changed it but noticed that even after an overnight sit that the positive battery terminal would burn you if you touch it. And I mean HOT. Without starting the car for 8 hours. I changed the alternator and the belt squeal went away for about 2 weeks. Now it is back, its putting out over 15 volts again and the lights seem dim. Almost like the car is trying to make up for a huge draw. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Those alternators should be internally regulated. I'd pull the alternator and have it tested at a reputable shop that can actually repair it.
If the regulator is bad, then they can repair it and check anything else that should be replaced in order to give you good service.

Good Luck
