ok so i just got y car back to where i want it, after crankwalk. I installed a used 6 bolt that was built and had a mls 4 layer hg installed properly (it had 10k on it with arps), now when i drive it, it will be ok for maybe 10 miles after it heats up to 180 then from there it slowly raising in stop/go traffic. it will climb to about 215ish which is where it normaly is when i get home, so i park the car and the temp skyrockets to abotu 230-240 (according to dsmlink, but it never boils over into the coolant bottle) but on my autometer guage its only showing just above the 210 mark the whole time.

My question is, can the coolant sensors just go bad? also I have a FMIC and i just got a fluidyne radiator will that help me in my stop go traffic? And are there any slim fans that bolt up to the factory location?

yes it was new when it got forged internals in it, it pumps the water. i did have a leak that i have fixed.

I don't believe there are slim fans that fit the factory bolt pattern. But if you are overheating with the stock fan, your problem will become even worse when you use a slim fan.

Overheating can be caused by a multitude of things.

Radiator liming up on the inside. Fins stopped up with debris, water pump bad, belt loose, etc. If it's not getting hot going down the road but rather more prevalent while in stop and go or idling then more likely it's something to do with the fans.

Fans usually come on at around 215-225 give or take. They usually turn off at around 185-190 so as to keep the engine warm enough to remain in closed loop.

You can also turn on your air conditioner to activate the fans in an emergency if the temp climbs due to sensor failure. It's also a good tool to see if the fans and relay do actually work. Assuming you have a properly working air conditioner.

I would check to make sure the fans were good. See if they ever get voltage with a test light.

It could be the fans, the coolant temp sensor itself, or the fan relay. These are the most likely.
Good Luck

ok i guess i should have narrowed down my question a little.

the fans are on via dsmlink, they are aftermarket slimfans. but i dont think they are pulling enough air through.

and my question about the water sensor is, the data showing on dsmlink will say 230ish and my autometer guage will only show 215-220? so can the sensor go bad randomly?
