I just bought a 97 gsx automatic (Automatic haters don't hate I just got tired of shifting in traffic LOL) with an HKS blow off valve that is vented to the atmosphere. I use to have a 95 gst 5 speed that I recirclated. My question is will my gsx run differently with a recircluated blow off valve? I tried venting once to see what it would do with the gs-t but everytime I shifted it lagged but now that I have an automatic it doesn't seem to lag between shifts. I believe that I'll be running rich with the BOV venting but since I'm boosting @ 19lbs. (on a 14b not the T25). Would it benefit me to run rich or is it running too rich? Just need some input to see if I need to buy another BOV that will recirculate. Thanks

You should recirculate, since your not running a MAFT, its not a good idea to vent into the atmosphere.

No problem, theres people on here who can give you the proper technical answer, but I can assure you that it is not a good idea, as it has to do with your car running like crap.

With an automatic though it is easier to vent but still isn't recommended. It just won't do as much damage because like you said you don't lift to shift but if still opens everytime you let off the gas so I could either get a kit or make one. It's pretty easy if you have the right stuff.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'll probly try to find the recirculating kit or try to make one. I think I have an old HKS BOV anyone know which one this is it's kind of a bad picture. Sorry.

Yep thats the old HKS SQV. I have one of those sitting on a shelf somewhere. You can't recirculate it. The newer SSQV uses the same flange and snap ring though so you could just swap it out. HKS does make a recirculation kit for the newer SSQV.

Thanks again for all the info. Everyone has given. It has been really helpful. I guess I'm just going to have to swap it out. or maybe fabricate something to make it blow back in.
