Just looked at a 98 gst, 110,000 miles, all stock.

Problem is, that it has a small oil pump leak. I know nothing about these cars.

But is that an easy fix? The guy said it could mess up my timing down the road??

Please let me know, The car runs fine but i am just concerned about that oil pump.

If the oil pump is leaking you need to take off the timing belt to get to it. At 110k miles, ask him when it (the timing belt) was replaced last, you may end up knocking out 2 birds with 1 stone.

Only go to the mitsu dealership for a timing belt, only mitsu! Aftermarket ones are less expensive but tend to crack and break. I would suggest the same with the oil pump. Mine ended up locking up and killed a 7 bolt engine after shredding about 6" of teeth on my timing belt.

As for ease of fixing, get yourself a hanes/chiltons manual and go over the timing belt removal/replacement procedures. If you are mechanically inclined, its a fairly simple job. Doing it yourself will save you a bunch of money on labor. A new timing belt from mitsu is like 150$, unsure about the oil pump. Look into replacing the tensioner arm and pulley if they look bad.

I would definitely replace the oil pump if it is leaking, a leaking oil pump could cause major problems down the road.
