I have an extra 4G63T block that I would like to start rebuilding. Upon inspection I noticed that one of the mounts related to the oil pump is cracked. I cannot tell as I really dont know much about these blocks but it almost looks as if that entire adapter can be removed from the block. Can that section be removed and replaced?

Yep. I concur. That shouldn't be a problem at all since the alternator straddles that mount and a long bolt goes through it end to end. Don't sweat it, it should be just fine.

Sorry for the wrong identification and thanks for the quick responses guys! I'll run it then.

Don't run it. The broken piece is part of the front cover/ oil pump assebly, and as a precaution, should be replaced during every rebuild. Fromt the pics it looks like yours has a few miles on it as is, and it needs to be replaced anyways. Better safe then sorry.

Since I now know that it can be replaced it definitely will as anything replaceable will be during the rebuild.

Thanks again!
