Oil pressure low? Should I worry?

At low - idle rather, once its warmed up ... my oil pressure sits like, 3/16th inch" away from the LOW mark, not the first operation zone notch...

Afterward under load, (high-way, back roads, so forth...) it goes JUST past the first notch of operation...

Doesn't this seem rather low?

Either way I wanted to know if I should worry. I know my cars burning abit of oil (small bit of white smoke out the exhaust) didn't compression test it yet... but I was wondering if I should worry about my oil pressure...

and if that is low what should I change? Maybe my oil pump is getting ready to go?

THANKS AS ALWAYS!
I get no engine lights / oil lights what so ever...

I can't get my windsheild wiper fluid to go off (the dash light)! I filled it completely... came on outa the blue. (The rear windshield sprayer is not hooked up and hasnt been for awhile... the front sprays fine.)

Sounds a little normal to me. You can always hook up an aftermarket mechanical gauge just to be sure. Once the oil light comes on, then you should worry.

One real quick and simple thing you can do is check the sending unit connection. Just look under the drivers side by the front tire. It seems like it is located in a spot where it could easily be hit or snagged by something. Just make sure it is connected and on securely. In this case it is probably not the solution but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Man I should have paid more attention to your post. Everything you described sounds pretty normal. After the car has warmed up and just driving around town my oil pressure is just above the middle notch. Now when I'm on the highway at speeds above 75 then the pressure climbs a bit higher. You can disregard my last post. You'll only be wasting time and getting dirty for no reason. I had a fluctuation in my oil pressure and finally it did not register at all and the sending unit was the culprit. Your pressure sounds normal. Do a compression test and let us know the results.

Hmm, thanks for the link into the oil pressure chat - seems my old pressure is rather 'normal' for the idle section which is what I was worried about. Either way I checked the sender awhile ago - and I'll be getting a aftermarket oil gauge to hook up. Along with that I'll most likely do a compression test to make sure everythings good... (engine has 130K miles on it.)

Either way, as always thanks for the support guys.

I switched to Mobil1 15w50 over the 10w30 and my oil pressure is a tad higher throughout the range. But yeah, what your describing seems to be normal oil pressure levels.
