After getting this damn 14B finally installed. Started it up and oil is streaming from the turbo. At first I thought it was the drain tube, but its leaking both oil and coolant from the mid section. I bought this turbo off a guy on ebay, and now what the hell can I do. There is a clamp that goes around the turbo's midsection on the 14B. Now that I look closer at it, its loose. Did I damage the turbo by not tightening this clamp. I tried tightening it, but it still leaks everywhere. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any ideas?

does it appear to be leaking from where the fittings are or do you think there is a crack in the center section? did you put crushwashers on both sides of the banjo bolt?

did you put crushwashers on both sides of the banjo bolt?

Uh oh, i only have one going against the turbo and bottom of the banjo. You need one between the bolt and the banjo? With the turbo in the car, it appears to be leaking from the backside of the turbo, can't see if its from the banjo or not...

Are you sure if that second crush washer isn't in place, its going to stream oil out while running?

Ok, I'll check that, but what about the clamp that goes around the mid section?

Its not the banjo bolt, thats good and sealed. Its coming from the turbine/midsection seal. Under that clamp thing. I took it to a turbo re-builder..

You probably bought it with bad seals/bearings. I just bit the bullet myself and bought a small 16G just for the peace of mind and the fact that it's not easy installing it in the car let alone doing it over. Good luck nonethless! :thumb:

Think there is anything that can be done besides give this guy a bad rating for selling me a turbo that he quoted as "perfect condition"? I read through ebays rules and such, don't think there is much liability on his end for it >_<.

i do believe that ebay has a policy of false advertising, but then again the guy could say that you installed it wrong (midsection and crush washers). but if i was you i would try for it anyway, the worse they can do is say you are stuck with it.
