OK, so i been noticing for the last week or so that when I'm stopped at a light or get out of my car i smell oil burning. i looked under the hood and there is oil covering where the area where the oil filter is (been doing that for a while). but i noticed today that i can see smoke coming from behind the engine. any body got any ideas whats going on and how to fix the oil leak by the filter (its not the filter leaking its somewhere else)

It could be either a line that runs near the filter or the o ring behind the filter housing.

If you see smoke it is probably because when you drive oil is running toward the back of your car. It is getting on your exhaust and burning off.

I am taking a stab in the dark with the information you gave so far.

Yeah im thinking it's my oil pan gasket i put on, i kind of half @ss'ed the install, so im going to drop it and redo it tomorrow.
