I was at the track this weekend doing a 1/4 mile pass,at the top end in 4th gear the car started blowing oil sprayed on exhaust caught on fire then went out. All the oil had leaked out through the oil filter seal I was told this was common when running high boost I dont belive that, Any ideas? Im running 6 bolt b/s removed 18g 25psi both lines on valve cover running to catch can . I am wondering if it is to much crank case pressure any way to relive it?

do you still have the PCV valve in if you do thats a no no you need to gut it or get a straight fitting. this is not "COMMON". I would think if it were crank case pressure it would blow the dip stick way before the oil filter gaskit. Are you sure it wasnt the dipstick sounds to me like thats what it was. If it was in fact the oil filter take the filter off and check that the part the filter screws too is tight i believe its a 24mm maby bigger. but dont over tighten it or you will crush the water cooler and that's a whole new can of worm's. good luck :thumb:

The PCV valve is out. Also, it was a Mobil 1 Filter. I thought that was the problem - possibly a bad oil filter. Also, it does blow the dipstick out occasionally, but I had tightened that up so it wouldn't come out. I'll check the nut that it is tight. help. anyone know of a better way to vent the crank case other than the two lines in the valve cover?
Thanks again :dsm:

The Most common way of getting better ventilation in the crank case is drilling a hole or 2 in the valve cover and welding AN fitting's in and running those to a catch can. I also remember way back in the day there was a guru named Taboo (real stand up guy ROFL kidding guys dont start flaming him thats not what this thread is about) well taboo drilled a hole in the back of his block and ran a hose to a catch can from there. Anyone got pic's of Taboo's setup?
