Hey guys,
I've been searching around for some mods that i could do to my 1995 edlipse GS-T. To be honest, I don't really want a car with 350+ horsepower....yet. I just bought the car and I'm not even sure if it's in a good enough condition to be modded out. It's a five speed with 130,000 miles on it. I'd like to think that it could, because it was taken very good care of. The owner tried to never rev it above 4000rpm,s always had maintainence done, and the car has a brand new clutch.
My question is, what upgrades will have to be done to break the 13's? I'd love to be able to keep up with my buddy's mustang gt, who runs a 13.5.......WITH NITROUS. I'm familiar with the popular mods and how they work, but i just don't know what kind of gains to expect with car that's turboed, since this my first. So far, my plans would be: high flow intake, hi-flow cat, downpipe, catback exhaust, short throw shifter(no horsepower but faster shifts) and maybe a new BOV(not sure if it adds hp though??) How much of a gain would I get from these mods?
I appreciate the time spent for anyone who replies. I am a huge car enthusiast, but I've never gotten much experience with turbos, so any info is greatly appreciated. Plus, I don't want to put all this stuff into the car if it's too old to handle it all anyways.

Thanks,
Chris

cool, thanks. Don't know how i missed that page

If I were to do everything up to step 7, IC piping, and short throw shifter, what sort of gain should I expect. I'm really not trying to bench dyno here, but I'd like to get an idea of what to expect and how much more I have to go. Plus, I don't have enough cash to plop down and get all that stuff at once. Just goin for the practical stuff first.

Thanks

Go through the time list, find a time your hsooting for and email the guy. They should be able in helping oyu obtain the HP and Times you need

Do you guys think that 130,000 miles is too much to do any mods? I think the car's in pretty good condition, but I haven't got a hold of it yet to check. plus, will IC piping add any horsepower?

Make sure the maintenance is up to date and keep up with it if you plan to mod it. IC piping does help out, more than you might think.

Thanks for the info. But what exactly does IC piping do to increase horsepower? Does it flow better or sumthin?

A LOT better flow compared to the stock 2g UICP.. look behind your air filter sometime and you'll notice that it almost completely flattens out to fit. I wouldn't worry about a short-throw shifter right now either, you can spend your money more wisely at this point ;) Glad to see you want to do everything the right way :thumb:

Thanks for the info iowaboostin. I can't wait to start upgradin. By the way, since you also have a fwd eclipse, is it normal for wheelhop when accelerating hard in 1st gear? I've never had that problem before, but then again my last car was an avenger that was slow as shit.

By the way, just one more question. When i buy the IC piping, the manufacturer says that only the greddy type s BOV will bolt on to the flanges. Do you think a 1G BOV would fit?? The type s is just a bit too pricey for me. I'd rather spend that money on sumthin more worthwhile.

thanks

Wheelhop can cause so much damage, never ever try to do that :( You've gotta take it easy in 1st gear, plus you can get better 'launches' (if you wanna say a FWD can launch) by taking it slower out of 1st.

Does anybody know if a 1G bov will fit onto a flange designed for the greddy type s on IC piping?

I don't think so. The Greddy flange is smaller.. so the Greddy can fit on the 1g bov flange, but not the other way around.

Cool, I can do that no prob. How difficult is it to install the IC piping? That's one thing that I've neve done before.

4G63 GS-T is wrong. You can put a Type S on a 1G bov flange by drilling holes, but a 1G will not fit on a Type S flange. Hopefully you read this before buying.

Installing IC pipes is a piece of cake.

Great, thanks for tellin me anything went through Terror Rising. So is the 1G BOV too small for the flange or too big? Because it is too small, i could just drill and tap new holes. Actuallly, what other BOV's would you guys recommend. I can't spend alot but I don't really want to get a piece of shite either. So what else is a good alternative to a 1G BOV?

The best thing to do is follow the tuning guide step by step. It won't steer you wrong.
As far as IC pipes, search around a little. There are many manufacturers that make the piping with a flange for a 1g BOV. You don't need to buy the most expensive IC pipe on the market. Look around and see what others are using. The 1g BOV is a tried and true part. Many people have had good results with them. If you're lucky, you can actually find them in salvage yards(saves you a few bucks).
