Well, AccuWeather is right on. Vis is probably somewhere around 300 meters, can't say for sure. The weather is STILL like this, it never fully lifted, although it doesn't look like Mars quite so much anymore.

You say the Alaskans are coming to Ft. Carson? Or are already there? We haven't had any direct contact with them as of yet, I can't really say what our involvement is with them, or if there has been any at all.

I've heard from a number of people that Ft. Riley stinks. If you're an outdoorsy kind of person, it's great, but otherwise, you're kind of out of luck. It might not be sooo bad, I hear real-estate is cheap, but then again, I'm not married - yet.

This amount of dust is rather unusual. This past winter, the supposed "rainy season" didn't amount to much. Just a few days of rain here and there. The rain theoretically will harden up the ground enough so that the dust isn't so bad, but I guess something went awry? We weren't in Iraq yet at this time last year, close though. When we arrived last September, we didn't have a dust storm until jeez, months later.

Trying to stay safe, thanks for the thoughts.

Tenn-gsx,

When you posted I wasn't aware of what your group was going through over there, and now the news of your recent loss has started to show up in the news, but very few details are included other than you lost a pilot. I do recall months ago the loss of a 58 with a test pilot and young passenger. After the limited coverage on the loss of the pilot in the last few days, I am beginning to think that a lot of the news isn't getting out. I am sorry for your loss. I doubt most people realize the sacrifice that you and your families go through for you to be there. Stay safe.

That's what's up, Blackhawk guys seeing the light. :p Just kidding, man. The crash-hawks are just as important on the battlefield as the 58's are.

def not a tango. I cannot stand the blackhawks. I mean they all serve their purpose but they didnt nickname them the lawndart for no reason. 58 is my airframe of choice going into woft. and for whatever reason pilots here in 3ID dont like them that much do I shouldnt have a problem getting it.

Oh, sorry I was quick to assume, I knew it was too good to be true, a blackhawk guy admitting the 58 was better ROFL. My plan joining the Army was to go WOFT High School to Flight School, but there were too many over-qualified people. i.e. degrees in Aeronautical Engineering etc... so they won out over me. I plan on dropping my packet again, hopefully they'll let me take the AFAST again, I didn't do so well the first time. 90. Oh well, practice makes perfect. Especially now that I've been in this field for a good chunk of time now. Good Luck!
