Hey everyone. After about 150 miles on my rebuilt engine the upstream 02 sensor went out. I dont want to keep driving it that way. Should I just get a new 02 sensor (55 bucks) or get a wideband (innovative 170.00). Take in mind I dont have dsmlink yet, but plan on getting in around 3 months.

You cannot simply replace your front 02 with a Wideband and expect your ECU to acknowledge this. A wideband is a way for you to monitor the Air/Fuel mixture as it passes the sensor. The 02 sensor (narrowband) that your ECU is expecting shows fluctuations in Air fuel, which bounces from lean to rich and never holds a stoich level, in which the ECU accommodates by adding/removing fuel.

Regardless of having link or not, you need to provide a way for the ECU to see these adjustments and switches via the 02 sensor, thus you need to replace the stock 02 sensor. The only way that a Wideband would ever take it's place is if you have the ability to allow the wideband to simulate the switching signal from the narrowband (02 sensor). This is an available option in ECMlink.

Ok. Well I ended up replacing it with a stock sensor and I'm still getting the code. Unpluged the battery for a while and still comes up. The code its throwing is p0135 bank 1 sensor 1. Heater malfunction. I am stumped. I have read a couple posts, but it all ends in just replacing the sensor

What brand did you go with? My car threw a code still after putting in a bosch replacement. Switched it out to a denso sensor (oem) and no more CEL. Was it also plug and play or did you have to wire it in??

I want to believe its a Denso . I can check in a while too. It was the stock oem replacement. Didn't have to rewire it . It was hard to find to begin with. You think I should try to find another?

Yeah, but how businesses run now, it would be very hard to get a refund. Also, all their other 02s were universal.

This can be done without ecmlink Connecting the LM-1 to simulate a narrow band oxygen sensor (OEM oxygen sensor) :: Application Notes; Engine Tuning Resources & Tips.

It can be done with zeitronix too.

Yea, even a AEM wideband can simulate the narrowband. I personally hate my AEM though and wish I would have spent a little extra on an Innovative

So are you guys thinking I should drop the regular 02. And just go to innovative with just the narrowband? I plan on upgrading dsmlink in the near future, so then I can simulate the wideband.

This I did not know....
