O2 Mounted Wastegate

I think it would all depend on what turbo you were using and what your goals (boost level) were. Most of the O2 mounted wastegates I see are for the 38mm though. I think most people that are running the 44mm vband are already running a tubular manifold with a wastegate mount off the collector.

Edit: Just realized the FP30 series is flanged for the 44mm vband off the o2. Oh well.

the 02 on my 1g is a custom piece by pina motorsports, great looking piece but real expensive, for my mirage i am going to have ets make me one, if you are going to just run 18-20 i would just use a ported evo 3 if i was you

Well, my local shop is telling me they have to custom fabricate an o2 housing for me, or else i cant put on a wastegate LOL. Cant i just have a flange welded onto the stock manifold or stock o2 housing?

Uh.... I've never seen a wastegate flange welded on to the stock O2 housing. You're a lot better off getting two flanges and having them custom make something like this:

I have seen a wastegate flange welded onto the #1 runner of a stock manifold, but that's not really the preferred method anymore. It takes a really good welder and a lot of heating to keep it from cracking. Plus there are tons of manifolds available that have a wastegate flange cast into them.

THanks for the info, where can i find some of those manifolds?

That's is a punishment racing piece. I've heard people say Victory, I've seen SBR carry them. Just about any sort of DSM shop that does exhaust fab also makes those.

I had the punishment-racing O2 with tial 38 recirculated and i had some clearance issues with the alternator. Every couple of weeks the 02 housing would short out my main fuse because it would rub againt the feeds of the alternator. Just a heads up.

Really my friend runs a TIAL 38 WG off an 02 PUNISHMENT RACING, and didn't have any clearance issues with the alternator. He did have clearance issues with one of his fans, but he took it off and hasn't had any problems yet. He's running off an EVO 16G though.

I am also running the Punishment o2 housing with a 38mm waste gate and I love it. No fitment issues, The only thing that was a pain was getting the waste gate in place to start with, takes a little work but well worth it. If you love the sound of your turbo, its that much better. I was tired of the noise from a dumped waste gate.

What I didn't like about the punishment piece is that you have to get bolts. nuts and lockwashers to hold the doownpipe on. It was a tight fit for one of the bolts.
Other then that it is a nice piece.

Yeah I was not prepared for that. Luckly I had some extras I could use. I could really use some better bolts, which I will be doing as soon as I replace the engine.

Some of earlier tial 38mm housings had clearance issue's on the 2g's due to the larger alternator's. We've since changed the placement of the wg and that is no longer a problem.
