guelph,
i was lo0king into installing a dump tube on my internal wastegate on my stock turbo.

i like the performance aspect, the sound is cool, for a minute then i could see it getting very annoying,
now correct me if i am wrong, the idea of the dump tube is to stop the exhaust form the wastegate form interfearing with the turbin thus decreasing spool up time and boost creep

my question/idea is, what if insted of dumping it to the atmosphere you the ran pipe down and tapped it in further down the exhaust system, thus the exhaist would stilll be away from the turbine, but you wouldent wake the dead everytime you hit boost

would you still get the performance gains? o would it just look different

O and please stray away from "you should" (ie "you should just buy an external wastegate), lets be honest i "should" do a lot of things, but the money just is not there, also work load in not an aspect

its all theory today baby
thanks scott

:D

Hmm....well actually an external dump is for the sole purpose of ridding boost creep. It has no effect on spool at all. And um yeah it does get pretty damn annoying.....well its kind of bitter sweet because its nice that it gets loud but the raspy flapping sound isn't that nice. Very efficient though.

Some people have done this with external wastegates, but I have yet to see it done with an internal wastegate. I do think it can be done though.

Is this what your talking about?

That right there is an atmospheric dump. What he was talking about was making the exhaust, after coming out of the wastegate, go right back into the exhaust, instead of being dumped into the atmosphere. I remember seeing a picture somewhere, I'll look for it.

Ok then you must be talking about this...

i think what he was talking about was re-routing the built in o2 housing dump, back into the exhaust at a much lower point (AFTER the o2 housing)

I am considering doing this as well as my external dump makes it so i cant hear the turbo spool or the BOV let off. I was gonna cut a hole at a lower point in my 3" DP and re-route the o2 housing into it.

Any comments? This shouldn't effect backpressure AT ALL.... :thumb:
