Did a lot of searching before I figure out where to put my new overflow tank and it seems a lot of people don't know where they can put these and not a lot of answers and good options were given out there...ESPECIALLY if you have a short route FMIC. Figured I'd let you know where I ended up putting mine in case anyone else ends up needing it later.
I have done the "gatorade bottle mod" in the past, but it just looked a little too ghetto for my taste so i ripped it out and bought this aftermarket bottle. It's the polished JM Fab tank with black top. Nice piece.
I mounted it underneath the intake just in front of the transmission. I have a short route FMIC so if you have one, you know it can be a pain finding a mounting location due to how the pipes come in from the intercooler. As a result, the stock location (on a 1g) is pretty much eliminated.
I ended up mounting it right on the fender liner. Those liners are actually pretty sturdy and with the support of the one next to it (which is bolted to the fender), it's not going anywhere.
I used penny washers on each side to take some stress off the mounting points and it's good to go. Easily accessible (even with intake installed) and out of the way giving a cleaner look compared to stock.
