I just got my datalogger hooked up today, and in every single run I've done, my knock gets to 43. Is this normal?

is your post a joke?
43 is the max amount the ecu will register, your ecu is registering massive amounts of knock, and consequently retarding timing a great deal

how much boost are you running and what are your mods?

No, it's not a joke, but I wish it were...

So I should log my timing, too?

I'm running stock boost, my autometer gauge reads a maximum of 9 PSI boost. I run premium fuel (not that it helps, apparently) which is 91 octane here in Utah. I haven't done anything outside of free mods. I've got a K&N drop in filter, removed the intake silencer, lower honeycomb and backed out the screw in the stock MAF, did the BCS mod, and that's about it. What could be causing this much knock? The car seems to run fine, no stuttering/hesitation/other weirdness. Could it be an indicator of excessive internal engine wear? The car only has 64,500 miles on it.

Is the knock sensor on the back of the intake manifold? If it is, then it's dry as a bone. I was looking around at some other people's posts about knock and found that bad lifter tick will sometimes be picked up as knock. I do have bad lifter tick at start up, and it comes and goes while i'm driving, but I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I'm running mobile1 15-50 synthetic, so I figured that was thick enough to keep the tick down. I'm going to try to clean the lifters that I have, since I don't have the money for new second gen lifters right now.

You should also log your O2 sensor. Its not much good for fine tuning but if you're getting 0.00V then that would hint at the reason for so much knock.

At 9psi there was no reason to mess around with the MAS.

My intentions were, and are still for 300HP, and I don't want to get a GM MAF and Translator yet. I just got sidetracked...

My O2 sensor is brand new. When logging, the O2 reading oscillates rapidly from high (.99 Volts) to low (.05 Volts) the whole time (there are small flat spots in the reading, but it's fairly consistent otherwise). Since I've never logged anything before, I don't have a baseline to compare with. I've searched for other people's logging results and come up with a limited set of results. I'll go feel on the knock sensor after work tomorrow and post my findings then.
