no tach signal

ok guys i am having issues getting a tach signal to hook up my new tach to i dont get a signal at the pt the ecu or the gauges... im stumped completely this is a 92 tsi motor

You should be able to get a tach signal from the Cam angle sensor if the car runs.

Tach signal comes out of the PT's white wire. If not there and engine runs, then the NOR gate inside the PT is bad (or the signal level or pulse width is incompatible with your tach).

ok guys i finally reciever my ner t i installed it and im getting a signal but its not right. im using a EQUUS 3-3/8-in. Black Tachometer #34-0100-2 and it seems to sit at about 500 but redlines at 3000. i believe i need an adapter but im not sure of what to use.

It's reading half of what it should. If you hooked it up to the PT (power transistor) white wire, then either the PT is bad (it's interior NOR gate) or you are only firing on 2 cylinders (so tach is reading correct).

im running 4 cylinders and the pt is a brand new unit.
