No Spark With Mega Squirt

Recently installed mega squirt II ver 3.57 board. have fuel and compression, no spark. there is power to the coil pack. I am using a MSD coil pack. Plugged in the old coil pack that did work. No Spark still. Checked voltage at the CAS and it was fine. I am using the stock ECU due to the Voltage reg to control spark cause my mega squirt doesnt have the option for spark. Just a pin 36 for a seperate spark box like and MSD control. Any ideas would be helpful.

What kind of car is the ECU controlling?

1997 420A Eagle Talon.

Using the standard v3.57 board and B&G firmware, you'll need to supply the board with a standard tachometer signal -- not the raw CAS or CPS signals. The wire carrying this signal is a white wire running from the stock ECU to the gauge cluster.

Of course, you can always modify, or have modified, the ECU for use with the MS/Extra firmware, which can read the CAS signal and directly control the stock coil pack.

I am using the stock ecu. I am not using mega squirt to control the spark. only fuel trims. stock ecu is still hooked up minus the injectors.

I understand that; but you still need to make sure the Megasquirt ECU is connected correctly. Please see previous post.

Ok that worked. Now I have to figure out why i cant communicate with MegaSquirt now. Time for new thread of why i cant connect with R232 to usb converter.

I can download the firmware but cannot use mega tune. I have tried with my laptop(Vista) and my g/f's (XP) nothing on either. Any help, suggestions?

Be a little more descriptive. What do you mean by "cannot use mega tune?" What's happening exactly?

no matter what port I use it wont connect. but when I installed the firmware on COM4 and then tried to connect mega squirt to COM4 it said no response. Then once I got a CONNECTED status and tried to burn it to the ecu it said cannot connect or connection error. I have tried this with and with out the jumper on.

Oh boy... I would probably re-flash the MS ECU using you favorite firmware variant and start from there. Once the MS ECU has be successfully flashed, do NOT replace the bootloader jumper unless you're upgrading the firmware.

Ok did that. Now still the same issue.

I find it perplexing how you can successfully flash the MS ECU but not connect to it afterward. Perhaps you can explain how you're downloading the firmware.

same directions from mega squirt. Thats all. I followed the directions and when it comes time to burn things to the ecu i cant connect.
