I POSTED HERE TO TRY TO GET SOME INFO ON THE CAR I JUST BOUGHT ### I THOUGH THE DSM GUYS HERE WOULD BE HELPFUL BUT IT SEEMS THAT ### ITS NOT A POPULAR DSM :dsm: THE CAR GETS NO LOVE. NOW MAYBE ILL GET SOME FEED BACK THIS TIME. I GOT A 92 GVR4 I NEED SOME TIPS. HERE IS WHAT IM PLANNING TO DO (20G TURBO, MAP TRANSLATOR, SSQV, 750CC INJECTORS,3" TURBO BACK EXHAUST,ACT 6PUCK SPRUNG CLUTCH) NOW WHAT I COULD USE SOME INFO ON IS WHAT CAMS WOULD BE GOOD FOR THIS SETUP WHERE TO GET A UPGRADED TRANS FOR IT AND CV'S AS WELL. IM NOT NEW TO BUILDING MISTUSBISHI'S I BUILT A MISTSU STARION BUT I AM NEW TO THIS MOTOR AND CAR SO ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU COREY

Please do not use all caps, that's just bad internet etiquette.

As for your Galant, everything that you can do with a 1G can be done with a GVR-4 since they share nearly all of the same parts.

If you're going to go with 750cc injectors, get an aftermarket chip (www.dsmchips.com) to work with those injectors. 750's are too much for the stock ecu to work with properly, even with the translator.

You can either go with HKS 264's or 272's, or Brian Crower 272's or 280's. There's more than enough threads here that will explain the tradeoffs between performance and driveability for each cam.

Plenty of options for transmissions. Dogbox racing, Shep racing, Team Rip Engineering...

Axles are the same as any 1G DSM axle.

There's also www.galantvr4.org for any information that's exclusive to Galant VR-4's

Dogbox Racing
Team Rip Engineering
Shep Racing

1G (91-94) transmissions and GVR-4 transmissions are the same, with the exception of a taller 1st gear ratio in the GVR-4

THANKS Quasimondo that is alot of help your the first person that has given me any good information

There is nothing wrong with GVR4's, in fact it is a highly desirable rare commodity, you should consider yourself a very lucky man to have found one.

I found your thread that was moved to the trash bin by another moderator, it was moved there for several reasons and none has to do with GVR4.

1. You didn't use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and caps. Here you're again doing the same thing typing in all caps, comply with the forum rules before this one gets locked as well.

2. You bumped the thread twice.

3. You started to get into a pissing match because someone mentioned you will need a tuning device for your 720's and you got offended because you thought he was implying you're a noob in which you are. first of all, it's MAFT translator, not MAP translator. Secondly, MAFT is probably the worst tuning option available in the market. Lastly, MAFT will not allow you to properly control anything above 680s, neither will a SAFC.

Read the forum rules and comply with them and you will not run into this problem again in the future, the moderator who moved your thread should have posted a closing statement pointing out exactly what you did worng, most of us do most of the time, instead of leaving you hanging, for this, I apologize. I'm going to delete your thread in the feedback section since your concern has been addressed here. Welcome to Tuners and enjoy your stay.

Mondo, are you going to Etown on the 22nd?

im sorry about my punctuation and spelling. LOL i admit i never did well in English class, but i always did well in auto tech. Im just here for info and tips and i appreciate everyones responses. all i ask it that people will read the entire post before responding: because it does get nerve racking when someone responds to something thats already responded too. i hope to keep posting here and receiving helpful information. thank you!!!

Whether you did well in English classes or not should not affect whether you capitalize your "I"'s or the beginning of sentences. You don't have to be perfect, no one is, but we do expect to see effort. We can usually tell when someone simply made a grammar mistake vs. someone who is just plain lazy. ;)

For a tuning tool that does not cost a whole lot of money, and does pretty well in these cars, the DSMLink is the way to go. However, if you want to get the absolute most out of each pony your car provides, go with the AEM if you have the money for it.

AEM is great but it's not user friendly. Unless you have a lot of free time to learn the ins and outs as well as repetitive experimenting OR a lot of money to blow and pay top dollars for quality tuners every time you change your setup (as well as between summer and winter), you will be much better off with DSMLink. Link can pretty much handle what ever you decide to throw at it, not to mention it has one of the best supporting forum known to mankind.

I'm still trying to make it out to e-town on the 22nd, and hopefully get some runs in.

Ultraflexxj, both systems are good, but I recommend DSMLink because the learning curve isn't as steep to learn as the AEM's.

Of course, if you're going to have the vehicle tuned by a professional, then the AEM will work just fine.

I am SOOOOOO jealous of VR-4 owners......I pray that I won't see one at Englishtown for sale this weekend! I don't think she'll let me get another one! We already have 3 DSM's plus the 4G63 engine in the tube chassis car. We'll have the Laser AWD and the GS-T there. Sandra's car is......."resting" since we've torn up the turbo, intake mani, and several other parts while testing. See you at E-town! Stop by the Boost Boyz (and Girlz) Racing trailer and hang out for a minute!

I had every intention on going to red robin! I really did, but then the night before I got a call from my friend inviting me to this old school Toyota meet in Bridgeport, CT. Old school heaven! Corollas, Starlets, Coronas, Celicas, Datsun 510's, Mazda RX-3's.....how could I pass on that?

I was only teasing, it kinda got rained out anyway, only 6 people showed up. :) As for old school, I wish I knew better back than to keep my 510, 78' 280z, and 83' Supra.
