Here's a dumb question.. among the other things (such as a horn for instance..) that my car does not currently have, I noticed that I have no dome light. the one when you open the door at night they come on so you dont end up sitting on the ground instead of your seat. Funny thing, is when you pop the hatch, there is a light on the left hand side panel. Now the only other lights in the cabin i can see are the reading lights which are on the rear view mirror. Are these supposed to kick on when the door is open? Wasn't sure if there was a dome light behind the sun roof that was just removed if someone replaced the head liner. I'll check the fuses tonite, but can anyone think of anything else for why It doesnt illuminate?

Check your door pin switches when you open the door the Switch grounds the circuit.

Your car physically doesn't have a dome light or they don't turn on?

I cant seem to find it if it does have one LOL. The only lights are the reading lights on the rear view mirror, and the one in the trunk for the hatch. I'm used to having dome lights behind the sunroof.

That is correct. There is no dome light if you have the sunroof. The only lights are the reading lights in the rearview mirror...and the one in the trunk area. If you turn the dash light dimmer control to the detent position, where a dome light would go on, nothing will happen. The reading lights can be turned on at the mirror, but be sure that if you turn them on while the door is open that you turn the switch back off, otherwise the light will stay on after you close the door and drain your battery.

just went to check on my car and when you open the door the lights on the mirror come on and there are 2 other lights under the dash by the drivers and passenger kick panel. did you try to open the passenger door to see if the lights come .if they do then check the pin switch located on the body door opening it has a rubber boot on it . sometimes the wires going to the switch corrode and break.

You have all the right lights. I know for a fact my switch is done. None of my lights work. The mirror lights come on manually or with my door unlock/lock button on my key fob. If the switch were functional, the lights would work when the door is opened.

You have the 2 mirror lights and a kick panel light on both sides of the car.

No none of them come on. Actually, i cant even see the lights under the dash. But if its normal for sunroof folks to not have a dome light then maybe i'll just have to deal with it LOL. Thanks for the replies guys

Check the bulb, and or the connector for the build itself as well as any wires that are running to the light source. Could also be the door pin not properly grounding out. Mine was the connector for the bulb, someone somehow had to force it in (don't ask how) and bent up the metal tabs and also managed to take a connector with it. Redid the connector and saughtered her up and never had a problem since.

check the bulb. and fuses that should be your problem its almost always fuses.

I believe there is an article in the tech section that outlines the change and what bulbs need to be used.
