no idea whats going on

so i left the shop with an ass whooping from the mercury sable motor i am replacing been on it since wednesday still not done and didn't think my day could get any worse till i started up my car,cranked slow like a dead battery,been doing that lately but worse today,them soon as she fires up its like she has a mis,poped the hood everything looked good.On my drive home no boost but what i do have is out rageous counts of knoc bad enough for me to hear them really loud. The last couple of days I noticed at idle I would be at 18" of vaccum. whereas, she would normally be at 22. This is a fresh rebuild model with only 700 miles on it. I'm thinking jump timing...ideas anybody?

Start with the basics. Fully warm the engine up (any knocking?) and do a compression test. This will tell you if timing has jumped severely. Then just go over your usual maintenance stuff, sometimes it's just something stupid, sometimes its not.
