I went out to start my car for the first time in about 4 days and it cranked for an abnormal long period of time before firing. When it did fire it idled roughly for about 3 seconds and died. So i turned it over again and i had no compression. I pushed the car into the garage to take a quick look at things, i made sure the plugs were snug, and quickly eye balled the timing across the cam gears and everything was in check. So i turned her over again and it fired but ran rough. I gave it a little throttle and black smoked poured out the exhaust (injectors were pouring fuel into cylinders when there was no compression.) and after awhile the car idled fine. 4 days ago i was driving it and it drove and idled fine. valve(s) sticking? but i had no compression at all, if i had a valve or two sticking i would have some compression. :aha:Maybe all 8 intake valves are sticking, hmmmm.... I didn't have much time to look at it tonight but tomorrow i'm going to dig into it a little more. I'll double check the timing first but any other ideas would be great! Thanks in advance.

Car is a 95 talon AWD basicly stock

You know...if you guys recently had a big temperature change up there and the car was sitting through it, you may have had some water condense in the tank, causing it to run like crap now. Or it could be something else related to a weather change and the car sitting.

The solution may be as simple as draining the tank and putting some fresh gas in it, and running it a few miles.

Just a thought.

if your valves are stick quik way to find out is to put a few DROPS (key word here) of atf in to a vacuum line right on the intake. For some reason it loosens up the valves I learned it from a tech teacher at college

Well i just got home from work and was curious so i started the car and it popped right off idled just fine. Weird. But, i'm gonna dig into it and see if i can find the cause, i'm not one to let things like this go unattended to. I did a boost leak test no more than 2 weeks ago and i didn't have a single leak, it actually held 20 psi for about a minute til i let it out. I'm waiting for a buddy to get here with his compression tester right now. I'll post again when i get results.

You may also want to do a leak down test while your there and that will tell you more then just a compression test will especially since you said the car had smoked when it started.
