some are better conductors than others, i think bronze is a worse conductor than the other but i cant really tell the metal from the picture but i think its the same concept, did u get all 4 in a pack or all 4 seperate, maybe they just felt like making them and trying a different metal. :dsm:

I seriously doubt that the spark plugs are made from different metals. I would suspect however, that a different type of plating was used on each plug.
Does NGK have a toll free telephone number or a web site? Give them a call or send them an email -- they should be able to tell you the why they look different.

What?

No, they're all just steel bodies. The R plug -for RACIE, of course- has been gold-cadmium plated (the color, not the metal), the other has the normal chrome plating. They plate them just to retard rust. If you buy them in Nissan boxes, they're gold-cad as well.

Now let's interpret the What? from defiants answer: like most of his responses, if u havent noticed, if you make an error with an answer, you will be made an ass of. The What? is responding to my failed attempt of an answer, doing as follows: What?=Your kidding me... :thumbdown

so if i run 3 gold and 1 chrome one it'll be fine or should i go get another gold one? is one better than the other? i dont understand why they would make 2 "different" kinds of the same plug. thanks for the info guys!

What?

You were the one who posted the wild guess for an answer, I was merely perplexed why anyone would make such a bizarre guess on an international forum out if front of everyone.

Bronze spark plugs?

And you think it's me "making an ass of" you?

What?

If I were making any attempt to point out how inane and something you'd said was, I don't think you'd be wondering whether I meant to or not.

Then again.....

The next posting along these lines in this thread will lock it. Back on topic, IF YOU KNOW the answer.

Sorry about all that.

It's only cosmetics. So long as they're the same rating BPR7ES or whatever, they look just the same to the combustion chamber. The few-thousandths-thick plating will have no effect on heat transfer.

Looking at the picture, do those have two different socket sizes required?

It wont matter as long as the # on the plugs is the same. The plating is there to prevent corosion outside of the combustion chamber. The stuff on the plug itself will burn off in a matter of seconds.

cool, thanks for the help guys. and to answer your question defiant, no they have the same size socket. thanks again! :thumb:

actually if you go to ngk's website they show different colored spark plugs and i think the silver are iridium and the gold are platinum. Im not 100% sure but you can go to their site and check it out yourself.
