I am ordering APC 9.3mm (unless there are better sets) plugs off of ebay today. I was wondering will the NGK IRIDIUM help me out or are they best used on a turbo. I have a N/T engine. I aslo need to know what ealse will help me boost up my spark.

I just bought a pair of ngk iridium plugs by mistake, I was in a hurry and mistoke those for copper.....i know i know i'm an idiot for not checking part numbers before i left the store  . Well i went back the next day & they would NOT take them back, i was like wtf? So i got screwed out of $45

If you want them let me know, i'm sure you can take them off my hands :D

did you not notice the $50 more they cost?

you wont get any gains from iridium plugs, cheap old copper will do fine

My local guy said they were $8.00 each. Even with tax they are not close to $45. If I don't need them why waste the money.

Sorry man i exagerated LOL, the plugs where $30 + tax ($5). They aren't a waste of money, chris says that becasue they are no good for spray

no iridums will tend to melt when under n2o pressure. I was in a rush and bought them by accident, anyone want them??? I'll sell real cheap

How much for the plugs... I have denso iridiums and i am not too fond

expensive iridium plugs are a complete waste of money. You will not see any benefits at all. In fact, I can't even think of a logical reason that marketers could provide to convince anyone why their car would have more horsepower with the iridium, versus regular old copper.

umm no one here mentioned any hp increase by switching plugs, reason iridium is made is because in n/a (non-nitrous) cars its supposed to last longer........now if thats true or not i dont know

i bought a set for my mazda and the dsm i feel the diff on them more of a better take off 4 me anyways :thumb:

The drawback to Iridium, in a N/A car, is the cost. The good thing about them is how long they last. This matters if you own some misbegotten GM load of crap whose engine has to be halfway removed to get to the rear bank of plugs, and don't ever want to change them again. But they're not otherwise any kind of special "performance" plug, and they're not going to gain you any power over goodl old copper NGKs.
Apparently they have some problem with running under boost, but the validity of that may be in some question due to the fact that people who have troubles with parts under boost are usually doing more than simple stock-level boosting to begin with, and they have many troubles anyway.
Stay with copper. It's yet to be bested.

Sorry to revive this thread but i was thinking of going iridium for the gains, however i know platinum are bad because they run colder, but I wasnt sure if iridium was bad for our cars, I am not currently boosted, and I don't plan on using nitrous.

Before the flames start about "you won't see any gains from iridium nub" see the link __> Fact Or Fiction - Sparkplug Horsepower - Import tuner Magazine

Yeah. Try reading the post above yours instead of an article published by someone who's paid to advertise spark plugs.
Iridium plugs are for engines whose plugs are difficult to get to. Hardly an issue on a DSM.

Platinum plugs are a bad idea for turbocharged applications because the center electrode has so little meat to deal with the huge combustion chamber variances that turbocharged engines experience. Early Bosch Platinums also had a tendency to lose the side electrode in turbos due to the weld at the base of the electrode failing.

I ran some of the NGK iridium plugs in my last 6-bolt, because they were the only spark plugs I ever saw with a dyno chart next to the ad. I don't know if they still do that, but what a crock! about 2 weeks in I got a nasty miss on one cylinder... I replaced the plugs, wires, coil packs to no avail. The block was leaking oil real bad, so I yanked the block and it awaits teardown... I didn't bother checking compression or anything, but I didn't care by then as I had a block in waiting.

I will never use them again in the Laser, I also suggest everyone else stay away from them. I don't know exactly what happened with my car, but those plugs should never have been put in there. NGK Coppers FTMFW!!!!

the only reason im using Ngk iridiums in mine, is bc i needed a colder plug to run high boost and they were the only ones available and havent had a problem with them.

Because i was running higher than 20psi, and i was making sure i was doing my part in keeping the knock down. To me the 7's were good from 10-17psi, but im at a point were im not gonna take any chances.... Not that it matters right now anyway, machining problems lead to yet another tear down. But aside from that, before i tore it down i was hangin around 20-25psi.
